FOUNDER'S STORY
"I founded Stand For Childhood at 16 to give a voice to children who are too often silenced."
When I was 12, I learned that my aunt in India had been forced to marry at 15. She dreamed of becoming a doctor but had to leave school after eighth grade. Two years later, one of my closest friends faced the same fate. But because I was older, I could help her avoid that challenge.
When I returned to the United States, I discovered child marriage continues to affect children here, too. The more I learned, the more determined I became to take action.

Our mission at Stand For Childhood is to end child marriage in all 50 states and around the world through awareness, advocacy, and collaboration with government leaders. We stand for the future of every child by working to protect them from child marriage and empower them to build the lives they choose for themselves.
